The Locust

The Locust is an American grindcore band. It is regarded as the founder of subgenres Electro Grind.

History

The group was founded in 1995 in San Diego by members of hardcore bands Struggle and Swing Kids. The aim of the group was to go beyond the limits of Grindcore, its barely more than a minute long title they mixed with keyboards. After various line-up changes, the debut album The Locust, on which the group 20 songs offered in just 13 minutes appeared. The first edition in 1998 as a record in an edition of 2,000 copies was sold out within a week. In 1999 followed the publication on CD, 20,000 sold this time.
