The Poozies

The Poozies are an occupied exclusively with musicians folk-rock group from England. They play a mix of Cajun, folk, blues, country and rock.

History

1990 hired the singer Sally Barker harpists Mary MacMaster and Patsy Seddon, which was then the Scottish harp duo Sileas formed, for her new solo album. The three became friends and started to like the idea of ​​founding an all-women folk band. Sally Barker learned the accordionist Karen Tweed during the " Hong Kong Folk Festival" know. However, Jenny Gardner left the group before the recording of the first album Chantoozies again.

Kate Rusby replaced from 1996 Sally Barker, who now wanted to devote more of their family is, as the new lead singer. In this formation the band recorded two more albums until 2001 Kate Rusby decided to leave The Poozies to promote her solo career. For Kate Eilidh Shaw was hired as a singer and fiddler.

The Poozies are a quintet again, since Sally Barker 2006 for the pregnant Eilidh Shaw stepped in on a tour and stayed even after her return to the band. 2007, the accordionist Mairearad Green was recruited by the band Unusual Suspects and plays since been retired for the end of the same year Karen Tweed.

In April 2012, Patsy Saddon left the quintet to devote more time to their new trio Madge Wildfire and have more time for the main organization of the Edinburgh Harp Festival.
