Criticism
Michael Edele of laut.de feels the single Second Chance as damn strong, completely uncheesy ballad. Overall, he called The Sound of Madness as a U.S. rock in his genehmsten incarnation. According to Matthias Reichel of cdstarts.de they serve hearty (hardware ) Rocker with hit potential ( " Devour", "Sound of Madness ", " Cry for Help" ) and lush ballads, which are anything but fat quark ( "Second Chance " What a Shame ", " Call Me " ).

Musically, the album is diverse: On the album are just as hard rock tracks like Devour and Cry for Help, but also quieter ballads like What a Shame and Breaking Inside, the critics remember title of bands like Nickelback. In addition, The Crow and the Butterfly reminds stadium rock greats like Aerosmith. The title Devour is dominated politically, so he leaves lyrically no good to say about the former U.S. president George W. Bush ( Suffocate Your Own Empire and stoles Like a Foreign Soul and Smash it and crash it and trash it and trash it).
