The Stills

The Stills were existing since 2000 Canadian indie rock band from Montreal. In 2011, the band released their resolution was surprisingly known.

Band History

The members of the stills were active prior to their establishment in various other bands. 2000 was found in the occupation of Gregory Paquet (vocals, guitar ), Tim Fletcher (vocals, guitar ), Dave Hamelin (drums), Olivier Corbeil ( bass) together. After the group had signed a contract with the label of Vice magazine, appeared in June 2003 first EP Rememberese before a few months later the debut album Logic Will Break Your Heart was released. This was recorded in New York and brought the stills comparisons with Interpol based there as well as Joy Division and Echo & the Bunnymen one. At the time of publication, the stills already had concerts with, among other things the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Rapture and played just Interpol.

2005, guitarist Gregory Paquet the band for him took over drummer Dave Hamelin. It was also keyboardist Liam O'Neal, who had already been heard on the debut, integrated as a band member. With this lineup, the band played their second album Without Feathers one on which further includes a number of guest musicians are represented, including Melissa on the Maur, Emily Haines, Sam Roberts, Evan Cranley from Stars and Kevin Drew of Broken Social Scene. The band has been certified a reinvention for their second album: While as a reference for the predecessor alongside groups that relied on bands from the 1980s, especially bands were called in the 1980s, these were for Without Feathers musicians from the 1970s such as the Kinks and the early Elton John.

2008 was the third album of the band, Oceans Will Rise, published. This was preceded by a label change of the band, which are now as Broken Social Scene at based in Toronto label Arts & Crafts under contract.

Gregory Paquet 2009 increased again; Dave Hamelin moved back to the drums. This year the band received two Juno Awards: The alternative for the Album of the Year and Best Newcomer. 2011 was followed by the separation.
