The Sword

The Sword is an American heavy metal band that was founded in Austin (Texas ), 2003.

History

Your first live performance the band had on 18 March 2004. Shortly after, they released the demo The Sword. This was followed by, among others more concerts at festivals. In mid-2005, the band was finally taken by the New York record label Kemado Records, where it was finally released her first album Age of Winters in February 2006. The material for it came almost exclusively from John D. Cronise and yet was before the founding of The Sword. In the years 2006 and 2007 tours follow with, inter alia, Trivium, Kylesa, In Flames and Nebula by America and Europe. With Lamb of God, they also played three shows in Japan. They also published in September 2007, the single Freya from her debut album and later in November the same year, a split EP with Swedish doom metal band Witchcraft.

With her published in April 2008 album Gods of the Earth to them for the first time succeeded in entering the Billboard charts. A larger audience in Europe were The Sword known when they performed at the end of 2008 several concerts of the World Magnetic Tour of Metallica in the opening act.

In August 2010, published The Sword as their third album, a science fiction concept album Warp Riders. Content is the album of the protagonist Ereth of the planet Acheron. Warp Riders is the first album on which an external producer, Matt Bayles participated. With this album, they could be even better place on the Billboard charts as with their previous album. In September 2010, they toured with Metallica and Fear Factory by Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

On 11 October 2010, the band announced on their website that their drummer Trivett Wingo has left the band. Wingo justified this by saying that he was not in a position to physically and emotionally to continue to be a part of The Sword. It was then obliged Kevin Fender as live support for her, shifted due Wingos outlet, U.S. Tour. Kevin Fender previously played in the hardcore band Employer, Employee.
