The Ting Tings

The Ting Tings are an English pop duo. They were founded in 2006 by drummer Jules De Martino and Katie White of the singer in Islington Mill, Salford. The band's music has strong electronic influences.

Career

The lead singer Katie White was a teenager member of the riot grrrl group TKO, an acronym for Total Knock Out. Together with two friends accompanied bands like Steps or Five. The band remained unsigned and publication. When she had finished her graduation, she met the drummer Jules De Martino and called him The Ting Tings to life.

End of April 2008 was their song Shut Up and Let Me Go in a commercial for the Apple iPod use, as well in 2009 in a commercial for Fanta.

A week before the release of their debut album, the single That's Not My Name was re-released and was able to conquer this time went straight to number 1 in the UK. In addition, from the song in several films (eg, Honey 2 ) was used. The album We Started Nothing followed a week later with # 1 on the album charts.

In June 2008, they performed at the Glastonbury Festival on, on 19 June 2009 had The Ting Tings an appearance at the Hurricane Festival and Southside Festival. Nearly a month later, there was also an appearance at the legendary Sziget Festival.

2009, the band with the Ivor Novello Award. In addition, they received a nomination for Best New Artist for the Grammy Awards 2010.

With Columbia Records, the band is under contract.
