Théâtre des Variétés

The Théâtre des Variétés is a theater building in Paris, which was mainly used for performances of musical theater entertainment since the 19th century. It is located in the 2nd arrondissement (7, Boulevard Montmartre) and was on 24 June 1807 by Marguerite Brunet, called Mademoiselle Montansier opened. It is not identical to the older Théâtre des Variétés - Amusantes on the Boulevard du Temple.

The founder received after competition disputes with the Théâtre -Français Napoleon the license to a new theater (see Napoleonic decree theater ). It was here that the genre poissard, that uncommon in France dialect theater, its venue. In the 1860s, here the larger operettas were performed by Jacques Offenbach.
