Theodamas

Theo Damas was an Indo- Greek, who perhaps lived in the first century AD. He is known only from a signet ring from Bajaur (in the north of present-day Pakistan). Its exact position is controversial. The inscription on the ring is written in the Kharoshthi font and shows not only the short inscription a figure. The short inscription referred Theo Damas as su, which in turn was interpreted as the royal title Shah, a title which was also used by the Kushan rulers and is also attested to posthumously by Kujula Kadphises minted coins in the name of the Indo - Greek ruler Hermaios. If this interpretation is correct, so Theo Damas was probably a local, Indo- Greek rulers in the north of Pakistan, who was perhaps a local governor under the Indo- Scythian or Indo- Parthians. Others, however, reject this interpretation and see in Theo Damas no ruler.
