Theodor Hertzka

Theodor Hertzka also Hertzka Tivadar, ( born July 13, 1845 in Pest, † October 22, 1924 in Wiesbaden, Germany ) was an Austrian economist, journalist and publicist.

Life

Theodor Hertzka came from a conservative Jewish family. After attending school in his home town, he studied at the University of Vienna and later at the Eotvos Lorand University in Budapest. After successfully completing his studies in Vienna Hertzka 1872 got a job at the Neue Freie Presse, where he was responsible for the business section recorded as an editor.

In 1874 Hertzka in the club along with some like-minded society of Austrian economists.

1879 Hertzka his own company, founded the Wiener Allgemeine Zeitung and ran it as editor until 1896. From this period came his friendship with Theodor Herzl, who worked in Paris during these years for the Neue Freie Presse.

After the First World War, Hertzka settled in Wiesbaden, where he died in 1924 at the age of almost 80 years.

Economics
