Theodora (given name)

Theodora or Teodora is the feminine form of the name Theodore and is composed of the Greek words for doron, gift ',' present ' and theos for God ' together and therefore means gift of God or God's gift. In reversing the order of the two parts of the name, there is the common female first name in the German Dorothea. The corresponding thereto male first name Dorotheus is common only in ancient Greek and in the Byzantine Church.
