Théophile Alajouanine
Théophile Alajouanine ( born June 12, 1890 in Verneix, Allier; † 2 May 1980) is considered the doyen of French psychiatry.
The Foix - Alajouanine syndrome, also subacute necrotizing myelitis, and Marie- Foix - Alajouanine syndrome, a cerebellar ataxia at an advanced age, are named after him. He was an employee at Kurt Kolles three-volume collection of biographies leading psychiatrists. Kurt Kolle was the father of the famous enlightener Oswalt Kolle.
Alajouanine worked, as before, Jean -Martin Charcot at the Salpêtrière. He was a good friend of Johannes Heinrich Schultz and also known with Klaus Thomas. He is related to the famous Resistance fighters Guy Alajouanine ( 1924-1976 ).
