Thiago Soares Alves ( born July 26, 1986 in Porto Alegre) is a Brazilian volleyball player.

Career

Alves was initially sporty in judo, football and basketball active. In 1996 he began his volleyball career at Grêmio Náutico União. He won several titles in junior competitions. 2002 the external attacker was first appointed to the Brazilian Junior National Team, with which he became world champion the following year. In 2003 he moved also to Bento Gonçalves vôlei. With his new club, he won the 2004 Brazilian Championship. After one season at Aole São Leopoldo Alves returned in 2005 to Bento vôlei. 2006/ 07 he played at EC Unisul. In 2007 he made ​​his debut in the senior national team, with whom he won the World League in the same year. He was then obliged by Cimed Florianópolis. With Cimed he was in 2008 and 2009 Brazilian champion. With the national team, he was again in 2009 in the World League success and also won the South American Championship. 2010 was succeeded by his third title in the World League. The outside attacker was transferred for a season to SESI São Paulo. 2011 Brazil defended with Alves the title in the continental championship and won the Pan American Games. Alves moved abroad for the first time the Japanese first division Panasonic Panthers. With the club in 2012 he won the Emperor's Cup and the national championship. At the Olympic Games in London, he won the silver medal with Brazil.
