Thomas Åhlén

Thomas Valter Åhlén ( born March 8, 1959 in Gävle ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player.

Career

Thomas Åhlén began his career as a hockey player with the Hofors IK, for the first team, he was active from 1973 to 1977 - first in the then second-rate Division 2 and from the 1975/76 season in the new second Swedish league, Division 1 from 1977 to 1979 the defender for Leksand IF ran on in the Elitserien. He spent the next six years in the league rivals Skellefteå AIK. For the 1985/86 season the links Sagittarius moved within the Elitserien for AIK Solna, with whom he descended straight into the second class Division 1. In the 1986/87 season but he already succeeded with AIK of the direct promotion back to the Elitserien. Following the 1989/90 season, he finished his career at the age of 31 years with AIK.

Internationally

For Sweden Åhlén took part in the junior level only at the U18 European Junior Championships in 1977, where he won the gold medal with his team. In the senior level, he stood in the squad of his country at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, where he won the bronze medal with Sweden, and in 1984 at the Canada Cup.
