Thomas Weissenberger

Thomas Weissenberger ( born May 28, 1971) is a former Austrian national football team.

Career

As a player

Weissenberger began his career in June 1979 as a youth player at FC Hard. He played there eleven years before joining SV Spittal / Drau 1990. For this club he played for two years and then moved to German Bundesliga 1 FC Nuremberg.

His first game for the 1st FC Nuremberg he made against VfB Stuttgart, which was lost with 0:3. After a year and 15 games for the 1st FC Nuremberg 1993, he moved back to the Austrian second division for LASK Linz, which he ascended into the Bundesliga in the summer of 1994. In total he played 59 league games for the LASK Linz and scored 22 goals. In 1996 he played with the LASK Linz two games in the UEFA Intertoto Cup. In January 1997 he moved to FC Admira Wacker Mödling, for the twelve games he played in the second half 1996/97 and marked a goal. From the 1997/98 season he played for SC Austria Lustenau. For this club he played until 1999 in 17 games and scored one goal. With the start of the 1999/2000 season, he joined the First Vienna FC 1894 and shortly thereafter to DSV Leoben. He then played at SV Spittal / Drau, SAK Klagenfurt, WSG Radenthein, ASKOE Fürnitz and SV Roth Thurn. In 2008, he finished his career.

National

In the Austrian national team, Thomas Weissenberger played on 20 April 1994 under the former coach Herbert Prohaska against Scotland (1-2). This was his only use in the A-National Team. He came on in the 62nd minute for Toni Polster; at this time he was active for the LASK Linz in the Austrian second league.

Family

Weissenberger comes from a family footballers; his brothers Mark and Philip were active as a professional footballer.
