Thor's hero shrew

Scutisorex thori is a mammal of the family of shrews ( Soricidae ). You and the related armor shrew differ by the particular structure of the spine from all other mammal species. Scutisorex thori was described in 2013 based on a single, caught in Baleko in the Congolese province of Equateur copy.

Description

With an overall length of 21 centimeters and a 10.5 -inch-long tail and weighing up to 45 grams Scutisorex thori one of the largest shrew species. Compared with the armored shrew Scutisorex thori has a narrower skull, a shorter coat, stronger and more flattened ribs, a little striated parietal bone ( compared to an extremely harsh in the tank shrew ) and only eight lumbar vertebrae (compared to ten to eleven in the tank shrew and five for most other mammals ). The whiskers are thin and long (up to 25 mm) and black to nearly transparent. The back coat is 5-6 mm long and pale to greyish, some hair have brown tips. In the back there are black coat, long guard hairs that are 8 to 10 mm long. The peritoneum is short ( 2-3 mm) and light gray. The tail is dark brown on the top, on the bottom pale. The tail is cream colored. The feet are provided with thick curved claws and have short, black hair on their upper side.
