Tiga (musician)

Tiga ( Tiga Sontag * 1974 ) is an international DJ and music producer in the field of electronic music ( electro, techno and house ) from Montreal in Canada.

In Germany he was known in 2001 with his remake of the 1980s hit Sunglasses at Night (Original by Corey Hart), a Top Ten hit, published in the International Deejay Gigolos record label. Tiga has its own record label called Turbo and has worked as a DJ since the early 1990s. He lived for some time abroad, including some time in Goa ( India). Upon his return to Montreal its stated goal was to revive the electronic music scene in his home and internationalize.

Life

Tiga spent in the 1980s extended period of time with his father in Goa ( India), where he was working as a DJ. In the early 1990s he had his own first performances as a DJ in Montreal. At that time he laid mainly to Acid House. He organized at the age of 18 years, the first major raves in his home country and a concert by the artist Moby in Montreal. In the 1990s he ran in his city their own club called Sona. In CKUT, a radio station of the University of Montreal, he had a regular radio show. Together with his fellow artists Tiga DNA opened a record store for techno with DJ Mark Dillon in 1998 the creation of his label Turbo. Original compositions and productions followed until the year 2000. Their first production was a remake of the song When Doves Cry by Prince, the second a remake of New Years Day for the band U2. Both these two productions, as well as his first cover hit Sunglasses at Night from 2001 were produced together with the Finns Jori Hulkkonen, who also works under the name Zyntherius. Sunglasses at Night became an international hit with over 200,000 units and top ten placement in the German charts sold. His remix of Hot in Herre Artist Nelly is one of his best-known works.

Today's activity

Tigas Label turbo now works with 25 artists and has 10 to 15 publications per year, both as a CD as well as vinyl records. He tours constantly around the world as a DJ and has up to 2006 more than 1000 performances in 20 countries and 50 cities behind. According to him, the most profitable for him activities are primarily appearances as guest DJ and also his own compositions to sell.
