Tim Flannery

Tim Flannery, Timothy Fridtjof Flannery actually (born 28 January 1956 in Melbourne) is an Australian biologist and zoologist. He became famous for his non-fiction books, which include, inter alia, The Future Eaters, The Feral Future and Throwim Way Leg. He was very critical look among other things, the impact of invasive alien species on the ecosystem of Australia.

Tim Flannery took previously performed a number of influential scientific posts. They include Principal Research Scientist at the Australian Museum, Visiting Chair in Australian Studies at Harvard University and consultant in environmental issues for the Australian Parliament. He was also director of the South Australian Museum.

For his book The Weather Makers Tim Flannery was awarded in 2006 the International Corine futures price and the image of the magazine of scientific knowledge Prize awarded Book of the Year.

On 25 January 2007 Tim Flannery was named Australian of the Year and appointed in May of the same year in the World Future Council as a councilor.
