Timothy Yang

Timothy Chin- tien Yang ( Chinese:杨 进 添) ( born July 1, 1942 in Erlin, Changhua County, Taiwan ) is a diplomat and politician of the Republic of China.

Biography

Yang holds a degree in Diplomacy at National Chengchi University, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Diplomacy. He then joined the Diplomatic Service in 1969. After appropriate training and further training, he was head of section 1983 in the European Department of the Foreign Ministry and then from 1984 to 1986 Secretary of the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs. There, then, he was appointed Deputy Director General of the Secretariat, before he Economic and Cultural Office in Taiwan representative in Ireland was as head of Taipei from 1988 to 1991. This was followed by use as Director General of the Economic and Cultural Office in Houston and from 1995 to 1999 as Director General of the Africa department at the Foreign Ministry.

From 1999 to 2000 he was not only Secretary General of the Secretariat of the Foreign Minister, but at the same time also the Chairman of the Research and Planning Committee of the Foreign Ministry. This was followed by 2005 as Head of the Economic and Cultural Office in Taiwan, and representatives in Australia. After his return, he was Director General of the Institute for the diplomatic service before he was last from 2007 to 2009 Head of the Economic and Cultural Office and representatives in Indonesia.

Following the resignation of the entire cabinet of former prime minister Liu Chao- shiuan he was appointed on 10 September 2009 on the proposal of the new Prime Minister Wu Den- yih of President Ma Ying- jeou as the successor to Francisco Ou as the new foreign minister.
