Tindersticks

The Tindersticks are a British band that became famous in the 1990s with their alternative guitar pop. The band led by singer Stuart A. Staples was founded in 1991 as the successor of the band Asphalt Ribbons in Nottingham. Also in this band Staples was already a singer and guitarist in the center. Already in its first phase in 1991, the use of traditional instruments such as strings, percussion and wind instruments was characteristic of the style of this band until they disbanded in 2003.

Your comeback the band in 2008 with the studio album The Hungry Saw. Since that time, and also by the soundtracks for movies of the French director Claire Denis, the musicians have perfected the classical instrumentation of their works. The style of the Tindersticks for the creative period since the new beginning can therefore be characterized as " chamber pop".

History

After recording the last Asphalt Ribbons Mini LP Old Horse in 1991, the original members of Tindersticks came together under the new name, had read the singer Stuart A. Staples on a matchbox on a Greek beach. In the first demo recordings of the new group was followed in the same year - 1992 - the first single on the label, Tippy Toe Patchwork Records.

The live performances of the Tindersticks were and are often well received, as their studio albums. After the album Waiting For The Moon Staples took in the years 2005 and 2006 to the two solo albums, Lucky Dog Recordings 03-04 and Leaving Songs, which led to speculation about the dissolution of the Tindersticks also due to the latter title. On its website, Staples wrote this:

"These are songs written on the verge of leaving the things I loved and stepping into a new unknown life, Both musically and personally. I was always aware synthesis did songs were the end of something, a kind of closing a circle of a way of writing did I started so long ago and I knew I had to move on from. "
