Tine Van Rompuy

Christine Francine Wilhelmina ( Tine ) Van Rompuy ( born August 28, 1955 in Leuven) is a Belgian trade unionist and politician of the PVDF.

Life

She grew up in a family with three siblings, two brothers, Herman Van Rompuy and Eric Van Rompuy, and a sister. In 1977 she received her diploma as a registered nurse in psychiatry.

Tine Van Rompuy is married and has three daughters.

Professional and political career

From 1977 to 1995 she worked as a psychiatric nurse in psycho-social center of the Broeders van Liefde in Leuven and from 1995 to 2004, they psychiatric nurse at the University Hospital (UZ ) Leuven " Pellenberg ". Since 2004 she has been Head of Nursing at the service center patient transportation of UZ Leuven " Gasthuisberg ". Here she is as a trade unionist of the Christian employees union LBC -NVK member of the Staff Council and the Committee for Occupational Safety and Health. She is also active in the Gewestelijke concerns Groep Ziekenhuizen Leuven ( Regional Interest Group Hospitals Leuven) and the National Interest Group hospitals. Finally, she is also a member of the local Board Leuven their union LBC -NVK.

In the European elections in 2009, she joined the Communist Workers' Party PTB and took the third place after the party chairman Peter Mertens and the chairman of the trade union ACOD ( Government Service), Nicole Naert. At the same time she ran for the Flemish regional elections. In the parliamentary elections in 2010, she took the top spot on the Senate list. In 2012 she ran for the municipal, district and provincial council elections in Leuven.

Positions

Van Rompuy is committed to the PVDF for the " Kiwimodell " and for the millionaire tax, a property tax for assets exceeding EUR 1 million. For the latter campaign has taken over the sponsorship. As in the nursing field workers sympathized with the PVDF - affiliated organization Geneeskunde voor het folk ( Medicine for the People). You already twice visited at the invitation of the Philippine trade union The Alliance of Health Workers, the Philippines. It is committed to the activities of the Stop the killings, a platform of more than 50 organizations that condemn the political murders in that country.
