Tipitapa is a municipality in the department of Managua in Nicaragua.

Tipitapa is conveniently located on the Panamerican Highway 22 km east of Managua and minutes from the international airport at Managua Managua.

History

The Asociación Coordinadora Municipal de Proyectos de ciudades Hermanas de Tipitapa ( COMPALCIHT ) was established in 1987 and coordinates projects of partner cities such as social work, nutrition programs, agricultural projects, health promotion, youth programs and school projects. Since 1987, a New York - Tipitapa Sister City Project which was established from the Committee for Non- intervention in Central America and promotes conscious cultural exchange.

Fiestas

From 6 to 30 January, the Patron " Esquipulas " or Cristo Negro is celebrated.

Río Tipitapa

The Rio Tipitapa or Río Panaloya is the outflow of Lake Managua at Tipitapa in Lake Nicaragua.
