Tiritiri Matangi Lighthouse

Tiritiri Matangi Lighthouse is a lighthouse on the island Tiritiri Matangi in the Hauraki Gulf 28 km north of Auckland in the Auckland region in the North Island of New Zealand. It is operated by Maritime New Zealand.

The lighthouse is seen with its outbuildings as best preserved lighthouse complex in New Zealand. and is the oldest working lighthouse in the country. He was the third permanent lighthouse in the country and at times the most powerful lighthouse in the southern hemisphere.

The island and the nearby visitor center are open to the public, the tower inside does not. The tower is like all the lighthouses of New Zealand remotely controlled from a central control room at the headquarters of Maritime New Zealand, Wellington.

On 25 June 1992 the tower by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust under the number 5403 was registered as a Historic Place Category I.
