Tokyo Police Club

Tokyo Police Club is a Canadian indie rock band. It was founded in Newmarket, a suburb of Toronto, 2005.

Band History

The band was created when the four friends decided in early 2005 after the dissolution of their previous band to make music together again. After a short time followed by first appearances in the Toronto area, but the band remained largely unknown. In the summer of 2005, at the end of the common high school years, the band members went their separate ways for a short time, but were in the autumn of the opportunity to perform at the Pop Montreal festival. Through this performance, the Canadian independent scene is aware of the band and the beginning of 2006 are Tokyo Police Club at Paper Bag Records.

Their debut EP A Lesson In Crime will be published in April 2006, after which follow nearly two years of intensive touring. Appearances at major festivals such as the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California, the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, the Glastonbury Festival in England, as well as the Hurricane Festival in Scheessel contribute to the ever-growing awareness of the band.

On 20 July 2007 Tokyo Police Club announced that they have signed a new contract with the American record label Saddle Creek. In September 2007, the band then took the recordings for their first album Elephant Shell in attack. This was supported in part by Peter Katis ( Interpol, among others, The National) recorded and produced in his Tarquin Studios in Bridgeport, Connecticut. For further recordings in November 2007 in Toronto, however, the band undertook again the producers of their EP, Jon Drew. The album was released in Germany on 16 May 2008.

In July 2010 the second album " Champ " was released. Prior to the publication of the song " Breakneck Speed" was placed in the Internet for free.

On a live tour December 8, 2011 Tokyo Police Club played their hitherto unknown song "Beaches ".

Trivia

In 2009, she had in an episode of Desperate Housewives made ​​an appearance as an amateur band "Cold Splash" and there took part in a band competition. Here was her song "In a Cave " to hear from the album " Elephant Shell".
