Tom Zirbel

Tom Zirbel ( born October 30, 1978 in Boulder) is an American professional road bicycle racer.

Tom Zirbel began his career in 2006 in the U.S. Continental Team Priority Health. In his first year there he won a stage and the overall classification at the Valley of the Sun Stage Race. He was also in each case on portions of the Tour of Shenandoah, the Tour de Nez, successful at the Cascade Classic and the Parker Mainstreet Omnium. In the 2007 season he won a stage of the Tour of Southland. In a sample taken 29 August 2009 drug test Tom Zirbel was detected in the A- sample doping with the steroid hormone DHEA. In January 2010, he announced that the B sample is positive. He was dismissed from his new Garmin-Transitions team. On February 27, 2010 Zirbel received a two -year ban until 28 December 2011 and then declared to end his career.

In March 2011, shortened the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency ( USADA ) Zirbels barrier around half a year, as this had helped in the elucidation of further doping cases. The lock then ended on 21 March 2011, and Zirbel decided to go back as a professional race. He signed a contract with Team Jamis -Sutter Home and launched in May 2011 at the Tour of California.
