Tomas Kalnoky

Tomas Kalnoky (born 24 December 1980) is an American singer, guitarist and songwriter of Czech origin. He initially became known as the frontman of Catch 22, is currently ( May 2013), he is active with Streetlight Manifesto. Stylistically his music is predominantly classified as ska-punk.

Life

Childhood and youth

Kalnoky and his parents left Prague when he was four years old. First, they moved to Greece, then later by Keasbey in the U.S. state of New Jersey, where Kalnoky eventually spent most of his youth.

Music career

The first recordings made ​​Kalnoky with the punk band Gimp 1995. Already here he had written the first songs. A little later he founded the ska punk band Catch 22 The band was in 1998 to celebrate the release of the album Keasbey Nights a great success. The album, whose 14 songs were all written by Kalnoky, many connoisseurs of the scene is considered one of the best ska -punk albums of the 1990s. Kalnoky but already left the band shortly after the recording of the album, to study in Savannah, Georgia at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

2001 Kalnoky finally returned to the stage. Together with fellow musicians, he founded the Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution as a sort of hobby project. Here he no longer limited only to ska and punk, classical and Eastern European influences were first heard. It follows the EP A Call to Arms.

In 2002, he raised along with three former members of Catch 22 and One Cool Guy (another ska -punk band from New Jersey) Streetlight Manifesto from the baptism. The new band reached thanks to this constellation at first a high popularity. The 2003 released album Everything Goes Numb was a comparatively huge success of the ska -punk genre. For many who were disappointed by the later Catch -22 albums without Kalnoky, it is the true Keasbey Nights successor and is again one of the best ska -punk albums. Following club and festival tours followed with Streetlight Manifesto by the U.S. and Europe. In between, he took over again time for smaller club tours with the Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution.

Victory Records planned since 2005, a re-release of Keasbey Nights, the actual album unchanged but with some bonus tracks. This contrasted Kalnoky critically. They finally agreed on a new recording. In early 2006, went so Kalnoky with Streetlight Manifesto to the studio and in April of the same year, the new version was released.
