Tomasz Wałdoch

Tomasz Wojciech Wałdoch ( born May 10, 1971 in Gdańsk ) is a retired Polish football player and current coach. He also holds a German passport.

Career

Wałdoch began his career at Stoczniowiec Gdańsk, where he played from 1980 to 1988. From 1988 to 1995 he played for Gornik Zabrze in the Polish Ekstraklasa. In 1994 he moved to VfL Bochum in the German Bundesliga. He remained there until 1999 and then moved to FC Schalke 04, where he was team captain from 2000 to 2004. With FC Schalke 04 he won the 2001 and the 2002 DFB-Pokal. The first Cup victory, he could not attend due to suspension in the final, it was more than enough as a team captain of the Cup. In the second Cup victory, he then led his team personally. In 2003 and 2004 he won with FC Schalke 04 in the UEFA Intertoto Cup and the 2005 League Cup. On 13 May 2006 he was adopted in the game against VfB Stuttgart. After he was brought on in the second half of Mirko Slomka, he scored the 3-2 final score. In May 2007 Wałdoch graduated five games for Jagiellonia Białystok, before he ended his playing career final.

With the Polish national Wałdoch participated in the 1992 Olympics and won the silver medal there. At the World Cup 2002, he participated as Mannschaftskäpitän.

From 2006 to April 2008 Wałdoch worked as an assistant coach of the U17 team of FC Schalke 04 After Michael Büskens was interim coach of Schalke's Bundesliga team, Waldoch supervised until end of season, together with Sven Kmetsch the second team. He then worked again as an assistant coach of the U17 team, but left after the 2008 /09 season at the club at the Sports University in Cologne his training as a football coach to be completed. Since April 19, 2010 Wałdoch was sports director of the Polish Gornik Zabrze championship record. For the 2011/12 season, he returned as head coach of U-17 Juniors to FC Schalke 04. After a season Jens Keller was hired as the new coach of the U-17 team and Wałdoch took over the U-14 team.
