Tomi Räisänen

Tomi Räisänen ( born June 2, 1976 in Helsinki) is a Finnish composer.

Biography

Räisänen studied from 2000 to 2006 composition with Erkki Jokinen at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, and completed his studies with a Master of Music ( M.Mus. ). Prior to his studies at the Sibelius Academy, he attended lectures at the University of Helsinki in the fields of musicology and composition with Harri Vuori. He also participated in several international master classes, seminars and workshops with composers such as Louis Andriessen, Brian Ferneyhough, Jonathan Harvey, Michael Jarrell, Jouni Kaipainen, Magnus Lindberg, Philippe Manoury and Marco Stroppa.

Räisänen is one of the most performed composers of his generation in Finland. His list of works includes approximately 60 compositions, from solo pieces to chamber and choral music brought to the stage in more than 35 countries in Europe, North and South America, Asia and Australia to orchestral works and concertos and was. In 2007, Räisänen won the international Irino Prize ( shared award ) in Japan with his composition Stheno (2006). In 2002 he was awarded the second prize in the international composition competition " 2Agosto " in Italy with his composition Nomad ( 2002). In addition, he successfully participated in composition competitions in Finland and Australia. Räisänens works are published by Edition TROY.
