Torsten Fenslau

Torsten Fenslau ( born April 23, 1964 in Klein Heubach, † November 6, 1993 in Darmstadt ) was a German DJ and music producer, and is considered a pioneer in the early Sound of Frankfurt.

Life and work

Fenslau resident DJ of Dorian Gray was in the Frankfurt airport, co-founder and a regular guest of hr3 Club Night. He founded his own record label departure Records, on which he produced about 40 different vinyl maxi - releases and a greater amount Maxi - CDs. Most of the pieces produced by him was indeed granted no outstanding commercial success, but they are many remained as a classic of German Techno in memory. Examples are: exit - Alone ( It's Me ) Culture Beat - The strawberry mouth, LDC - Die Schwarze Zone, Near Dark - Today is a good day to die, Sound Factory - The Kybernauten or Tyrell Corporation. - Running. Besides their own productions Fenslau also worked as a remixer, including Joachim Witt and Mark Schultz.

Torsten Fenslaus pioneering work was The Dream of Out of the Ordinary from 1988, with excerpts from the speech "I Have a Dream" by Martin Luther King. His motto was derived therefrom from: to have dreams and to realize. The sentence "I Have a Dream" is to be read at his grave.

His biggest success in 1993 with the landed Fenslau 1989 he founded Project Culture Beat: Mr. Vain The song was in several European countries for some several weeks at number 1 on the charts. Also known by the title "Show Me " to the later culture -beat singer Kim Sanders in 1993. 1994 appeared on the label Dance Pool the double album " Torsten Fenslau - The Dream ( Best Of Torsten Fenslau ) ", which contains much of his mitgewirkten productions.

Death

On November 6, 1993 Fenslau accident with his vehicle, a Mercedes 500 SL, near Messel near Darmstadt, and then died in Elisabethenstift Darmstadt. Supposedly Fenslau had a long day already behind him, as he was still in the morning in New York to promote the music of Culture Beat. On the drive home from the Paramount Park, where a friend was celebrating his birthday, he fell into a micro sleep, went off the road and crashed her car into a tree. In contrast to his former partner, who survived the accident slightly injured, he was not wearing a seatbelt. The last production before his death is the song Remember The Time Shift.
