Tosin Oke

Tosin Oke ( born October 1, 1980 in London ) is a Nigerian- British triple jumper.

The dual nationality, grew up in London and Lagos. Two years after he had begun with the triple jump, he won at the Junior European Championships 1999 in Riga.

He was starting for England fifth in the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002. At the European Athletics Championships in Munich, he reached the final, but remained there without a valid attempt. Due to the strong competition within the UK (Jonathan Edwards, Onochie Achike, Phillips Idowu and Nathan Douglas ) remained him more assignments for major international events denied. After not nominated him to the Association in 2007, even after improving to 16.86 m fo the World Athletics Championships in Osaka, matured the decision to run for his other home country.

From 2009 on he started for Nigeria. At the World Championships in Berlin, he left in qualifying. The following year, he won at the African Championships in Nairobi and at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi. In 2011 he won after a further preliminary rounds off at the World Cup in Daegu at the Pan-African Games in Mabuto.

In 2012, he defended his title at the Africa Championships in Porto Novo and finished seventh at the Olympic Games in London.

Tosin Oke is 1,79 m tall and weighs 77 kg. From 2004 to 2008, he was trained by John Herbert, then how in his youth by Guy Spencer.
