Tour Méditerranéen

The Mediterranean Tour ( Tour méditerranéen ) is a French stage race.

The discharged since 1974 cycling event traditionally takes place in February and is often used by many famous professional cyclists as an introduction to the season. Main initiator and athletic director of the race is the former Tour de France winner Lucien Aimar. The race consists of five to eight stages, the start and finish are located in the French Mediterranean region, in some years, with side trips to the Italian Riviera. A highlight of the race has almost every year of often discharged as a time trial climb to Mont Faron above Toulon.

The race is part of the UCI Europe Tour in the UCI category 2.1.

German winners were previously Rolf Golz (1992 ), Jörg Jaksche (2004) and Jens Voigt ( 2005).

For 2012, the discharge was initially canceled; as a reason, " message error " given the French Cycling Federation. In January 2012, the UCI confirmed the subsequent inclusion of the tour in the racing calendar.
