Toys " R " Us was founded in 1948 by Charles Lazarus. The Group today is, however, equally owned by Bain Capital, Vornado Realty Trust and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.. Toys " R " Us had in October 2007, worldwide more than 1500 branches, including 60 in Germany, 14 in Austria and 7 in Switzerland.

Company name and logo
The company Toys " R " Us is a colloquial shorthand for the English phrase " Toys are us ", which loosely translated means something like " We are toy " means.
