Transcription factor II F

Transcription factor IIF ( TFIIF ) is a protein complex in the nucleus of vertebrates, which is indispensable for the initiation of transcription of the genes. TFIIF particular binds to the RNA - polymerase II and stabilizes the TFIID TFIIA, TFIIB complex, thus contributing to the precise positioning of the pre-initiation complex on Genanfang. Other Functions of TFIIF during elongation are now known.

TFIIF consists of two subunits ( RAP74, RAP30 ) with 517 and 249 amino acids. The second sub- unit has helicase activity (EC 3.6.1 - ).. RAP74 binds FCP1, which is necessary for recycling of the polymerase. RAP74 also interacts with TAF6 and RAP30 with HTATSF1 and with GPBP1.
