Trinitramide

Trinitramid is a nitrogen -oxygen compound, which can be formally regarded as nitric oxide.

History

A theoretical calculation of 1993 predicted the existence forward as possibly stable connection. The first preparation was described in 2011 by a working group at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.

Representation and extraction

They are prepared by the nitration of potassium or Ammoniumdinitramidlösungen means Nitryltetrafluoroborat in acetonitrile at low temperatures.

Properties

The connection has been made only in solution. Detection was carried out by IR spectroscopy, and 14N - NMR spectroscopy. Derived from the preparation by reacting Dinitramidanionen Nitrylkationen and two structural isomers may be formulated. Quantum-chemical calculations indicate that the "real" Trinitramidstruktur N ( NO2) 3 is energetically more favorable and was thus found only in the experiment.

Use

Use as a rocket fuel has been postulated. The suitability as an example material for the study of materials having a high energy density, is more likely.
