Triosence

Triosence is a German jazz band that was founded in 1999. The trio consists of Bernhard Schüler ( piano ), Stephan Emig (drums) and Matthias Nowak ( bass).

History

2001 the band won the first prize in the national competition "Jugend jazzt " in Erfurt. This was associated with the production of a CD, their debut album "First Enchantment ". The first prize was followed by the Baltic Sea Jazz Award, the price of the Studio Germany Funke, the award of the city of Kassel to a nomination for the Prize of the German Record Critics. They were able to celebrate the entry into the International Jazz Charts in Germany. A major success was able to record the trio in Japan, where it is one of the famous jazz newcomers since the release of their debut album. 2011 Triosence was invited by Taiwan Taoyuan Cultural Affair Bureau to an intercultural project to Taiwan. For the 100th anniversary of the Taiwanese government, the band has arranged Taiwanese folk songs and played several new large-scale concerts in Taiwan. They were accompanied by the well-known singer in Taiwan Hsiao Huang- Chi and Emiliy Guan.

Bernhard Schüler was born on September 19, 1979 in Kassel. He began his musical education at the age of seven years with piano lessons. As a teenager, he composed his own pieces. His first band he founded in 1995, in which he was a saxophonist, bandleader and composer at the same time. He took in 1996 and 1999 successfully on "Youth jazzt " part. In "Youth jazzt " In 1999, he won because of his piano playing a solo support of the German Music Council and won the 1st prize in 2000 there soloist competition. From 1999 to 2004 he studied at the Musikhochschule in Cologne.

Stephan Emig was born on January 7, 1976 in Kassel. At age 13, he made the first attempts on the drums. He began his musical training at the Modern Music School in Giessen and later moved to the Music Academy in Los Angeles. Since 1998 he has worked as a professional drummer and percussionist, inter alia, Hamid Baroudi with, Ritmo Del Mundo or Christina Lux.

Matthias Nowak was born in Berlin in 1976 and studied orchestral music and jazz at Colleges of Music and Performing Arts in Mannheim and Detmold. As a member of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, the boys Austrian Philharmonic, Ensemble Resonance Ensemble and sound work, he has had numerous performances at home and abroad. He has participated in master classes with John Goldsby, David Friesen and M. Abrams and worked with musicians such as John Ruocco, Jurgen Friedrich, Dejan Terzic, Rudi Mahall, Christopher Dell and Oliver Leicht. Concert tours have taken him to Albania, France, Luxembourg, England, Italy, USA and India.

Music

The music is a mix of jazz, folk, world, and fusion. The musical instruments are equal partners, what the trio allows a wide range of compositions. All pieces are original compositions. The musicians are inspired by various influences. Among others may be mentioned here: Bill Evans Trio, Keith Jarrett, Hubert Nuss, John Taylor, Ahmad Jamal, Peter Erskine, Jack DeJohnette and Zakir Hussain. Their melodies are very catchy, lyrical and poetic.
