The centrifugal screw ( Trochidae ) are a large family meeresbewohnender snails.
Features
The family is characterized by trochospiralige right-handed case, which can be closed normally by an operculum. The housing varies from niedrigtrochospiral with great opening to hochtrochospiral with a narrow opening. The Adult size ranges from about 5 mm to about 130 mm. In case an inner Perlmutterschicht is deposited.
System
The centrifugal screw ( Trochidae ) were placed in the no longer current system according to John Thiele to the Altschnecken ( Archaeogastropoda ), an order of prosobranch ( Prosobranchia ). According to recent findings, they are expected to Vetigastropoda, a superorder of the subclass Orthogastropoda.
