Trun

Trun ( [ tʀʊn ː ]? / I, and German until 1943 officially Truns ) is a municipality in the district of Disentis in the District Surselva the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland.

In the St. Anne's Chapel stands of maple of Trun, which is represented in the coat of arms. He refers to the genesis of the Upper or Grey League and the Federal Charter of 1424.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Cadi in Surselva on the left side of the Anterior Rhine. With the exception of the district Zignau / Ringgenberg 879 m with the fractions Vricla and Chilgieri and the hamlet Lumneins, on the right bank of the Rhine are all larger settlements north (left) of the river. Highest summit in the southern part of the municipality are the Piz Nadels ( 2'789 m) and Piz Miezdi ( 2'741 m). North westernmost point of the municipality is the Piz Urlaun, northeast most point of the Bifertenstock, called in Roman Pez Durschin. Between these two vertices is a mountain range that is border to Canton Canton Glarus simultaneously.

The largest settlements north of the Anterior Rhine are (from east to west) Tiraun, Darvella, flood Gina, where the famous Brothers Zarli and Alois Carigiet lived, the village of Trun, Pustget, Gravas and Campliun the valley floor and Cumadé, Bardigliun, Caltgadira and Cartatscha on a slope and Schlans. There are also numerous farmsteads and individual settlements.

Tiefstgelegener point of the municipality is the Rhine at Flantuosch at an altitude of 811 m. Of the total municipal area of ​​over 51 square kilometers are 1744 ha ( = 40 %) Mountains and 1463 ha ( = 34 %) forested. Of the 1015 ha of agricultural land 625 ha are cultivated as mountain pastures. The remaining 81 ha settlement area.

History

Truns history goes back to the Bronze Age: In Caltgeras, north of the road from Trun after Darvella a settlement from the time it is established around 1200 BC in the Stream weirs. On the right side of the Rhine at Grepault discovered Walo Burkart 1931 at Zignau a settlement from the Hallstatt period and an early medieval church fort. Some walls are still visible today. The colonization of the region around Trun was completed in the early Middle Ages at the latest.

From the Middle Ages formed Trun as a neighbor of the Cadi in the court along with Sumvitg the fourth courtyard. The monastery fortresses Cartatscha, Friberg, Ringgenberg and Phiesel marginalized the state of the Disentis Monastery from the east against the rule Waltensburg or Joerg Bergmeister.

Trun was 1424 founding place of the Grey League, until 1798 the Court and until 1814 the venue. In addition to the aforementioned chapel Caplutta Sontga Onna is since 1701 a courtyard of the Grey League. In the former cloister La Cuort, was held in the from 1428 of the Grey League, now the Museum Sursilvan is housed. Among others, a part of the old stock of maple exhibited in the former meeting room of the Grey League, under which the Grey League was founded in 1424, as well as some works of art by the painter Alois Carigiet.

The name appears in the will of Trun Tello, of the Abbey Disentis donated goods in the year 765. Presumably, the place name derives from the Bach name Taurontum, probably the present-day Bach Ferrera, which flows through the village. The Ferrera in turn was named at the time as iron ( Italian ferro ) from the rocks of the south-eastern flank of the Pez Ner (German Black Peak ) in the Val Punteglias was recovered. The creek rises to about 2345 m height from the glaciers ' Glatscher because Punteglias ' and ends south of Darvella about 300 meters east of the road sign into the Rhine. With its 1999 water stream is recovered by the power plant Ferrera electrical energy since July, average annual production 18 million kWh. The slope of the socket to the power plant is 771 meters.

On 1 January 2012, the municipality of Trun merged with the neighboring community Schlans.

Population

Official and school language is Romansh idiom Sursilvan. At the 2000 census named as Main Language: 79 % Romanesque, 15 % German. From the end of 2005 1267 residents were in 1211 ( = 95 % ) Swiss nationals.
