Trzebież

Trzebież ( German Ziegenort ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The place is a mayor's office in the Gmina Police ( urban and rural community Pölitz ) in the powiat Policki ( Pölitzer circle).

Geographical location

Trzebież located in the Eastern Pomerania on the west side of the mouth of the Oder in the Szczecin Lagoon and on the border of Ueckermünder Heath, about 35 kilometers north of Szczecin.

History

The town was awarded in 1280 by Prince Bogusław IV of Pomerania Stettin citizens Gottfried von Breslau in exchange for the village Stepenitz and other possessions. The former village name is derived from Zegenhort Zege (high German goat), a once common species occurring in the lagoon. 1328 Ziegenort came into possession of the Canons Jasenitz.

During the 18th century, the waterway was an important industry of Ziegenort. In the port from the 18th century, especially wood was shipped from the Ueckermünder Heath. Regular steamship connections to Szczecin existed from 1860. In 1864, 31 sailing ships had their home port in Ziegenort.

Around the year 1930, the boundaries of the municipality Ziegenort a surface area of 8.5 km ², and in the municipality stood together 358 houses in three different places of residence:

In the year 1925, in the town of 2,382 inhabitants Ziegenort, including 15 Catholics and ten Jews, counted, which were distributed to 668 households.

Ziegenort formed before 1945, a rural municipality in the district Ueckermuende in the district of Stettin Pomerania.

After the end of World War II Ziegenort 1945 was provided as part of the so-called Szczecin Strip under Polish administration.

Traffic

From 1910 onwards there was a rail link to Jasenitz and on to Stettin. The passenger was placed on this line in 2002.

Attractions

Sights are next to the church, the rectory and the captain's house. There is a beach at the Szczecin Lagoon.

Church

Parish Church

The church is a baroque stucco building with a tower, which has a half-timbered upper floor. An earlier weathervane was the year 1745. Altar and pulpit, as used in Ueckermünder Heath, interconnected. Until 1945 the church was Protestant church. It was then confiscated by the Catholic Church in Poland.

Parish

Prior to 1945, was the majority of the population Ziegenorter Protestant denomination. The place was since ancient parish seat. For parish Ziegenort ( until the 20th century Great called Ziegenort ) belonged to the early 20th century, the Branch communities King Field ( today Polish: Niekłończyca ) and Althagen ( Brzózki ) and the villages Wilhelm village ( Uniemyśl ), Hammer ( Drogeredz ) and Karpin ( Karpin ). 1940 belonged to the parish church members Ziegenort 4109, of which 2361 belonged to the parish Ziegenort, 1428 to the parish of King field, and 320 to the parish Althagen.

Before 1945 Ziegenort was in the church Ueckermünde county in the West Ward of the Church of the Province of Pomerania Church of the Old Prussian Union.

Since 1945, predominantly Catholic population live in Trzebież. Here is a parish is built, which is part of the Dean's Office in the Archdiocese of Szczecin - Police Pomerania. Evangelical Church members are the Parish Office in Szczecin ( Trinity Church, formerly St. Gertrude ) in the diocese of Breslau Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland assigned.
