Tsakonian language

Tsakonisch (Greek Tsakoniki dialektos Τσακωνική διάλεκτος ) is a Greek dialect, which is still actively spoken in a few villages in the regions of Laconia and Arcadia in the Peloponnese. Tsakonisch is the only one still spoken today Greek dialect that is not from the Hellenistic vernacular language ( koine ), but has evolved from the ancient Doric dialect.

Was rediscovered by the Tsakonische the French scholar Jean -Baptiste Gaspard d' Ansse de Villoison on its trip to Greece ( 1784-1786 ). For the first time it has been thoroughly explored by the German Michael Deffner, of a Zakonische grammar published in 1881, and by the Cretans Georgios N. Chatzidakis.
