Tumua Anae

Tumuaialii " tumua " Anae ( born October 16, 1988 in Honolulu) is an American water polo player who is active for the club SoCal Water Polo. She won the gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London with the national team. Anae has held the position of goalkeeper and is in the national team after the second goalkeeper Betsey Armstrong.

Sports career

First, with her sister Jordan active in swimming, she was asked by friends to help out in a water polo match, after which both devoted to the water polo sport. Anae has already played at the Corona del Mar High School organized water polo and was voted the second best player of their division. From 2007 Anae visited the University of Southern California, where she was also active in water polo sport; temporarily with her sister. Here they showed very good performances, which is why she was nominated for several representative teams, especially the All-American water polo team.

In 2010, Anae played their last season for the University. With a total of 714 held balls and 270 balls held in a season and 20 held balls in a game they broke so the previous records of the university. Also this year, Anae was appointed for the first time for the U.S. water polo team. There she has since established itself as a substitute goalkeeper Betsey Armstrong behind and won in the Water Polo World League in 2011 and 2012, at the Pan American Games in 2011 and the 2012 Summer Olympic Games gold medal each.

Private life

Anae now lives in Newport Beach. At the university she studied journalism.
