Tupolev Tu-2000

The Tupolev Tu- 2000 (Russian Туполев Ту -2000) was the project of a hypersonic bomber, which was developed by OKB Tupolev for the Soviet Union. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Russian Air Force took over for the time being to develop until the project was eventually canceled in 1992. On August 19, 2009 Tupolev announced that they would develop the PAK DA a similar aircraft.

Design and development

The development of the Tu -2000 was a reaction to the U.S. American Rockwell X - 30th In the aftermath of the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia continued the project until it had to be canceled in 1992 for lack of funds. As a drive for the Tu- 2000, a ramjet engine was provided, which should accelerate the aircraft up to Mach 6. Parallel to the Tu- 2000, the MiG -301 was developed for which a ramjet engine was also planned.
