Tupou VI. ( formerly: Ahoeitu Unuakiotonga Tukuaho ) ( born July 12, 1959) is since March 18, 2012 King of Tonga.

He is the younger brother of his deceased predecessor, George Tupou V. His father was King Tupou IV Taufaahau 1982, he joined the Tongan Navy and was in 1987 a lieutenant commander. From 1990 to 1995 he held the command of the PPB Voea Pangai, which was used at that time for peace operations in Bougainville. In 1998 he finished his military career and took over from his brother resigned Tupouto'a (later George Tupou V ) the office of foreign affairs and defense, which he held until August / September 2004. From 3 January 2000 to 11 February 2006 he was Prime Minister of Tonga. Then he was appointed Crown Prince of the South Pacific island state.
