Tupper Lake is a town in Franklin County ( New York). Until 16 July 2004, the Town of Tupper Lake was known as the Town of Altamont, but was then renamed to counter confusion with the Town of Altamont in Albany County.

Tupper Lake is located in the southwest of Franklin County in the midst of the Saranac Lakes Wild Forest. It is located on Raquette Pond, a tributary of the Tupper Lake. Part of the town is the Village of Tupper Lake, which was founded in the second half of the 19th century as a settlement of woodcutters of Pomeroy Lumber Company.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of ​​337.0 km ², of which 304.6 km ² land and 32.3 km ² omitted ( = 9.60% ) in water.
