Turčianske Jaseno

Turčianské Jaseno is a town in central Slovakia, with 361 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011) and is located in Okres Martin, a part of the Žilinský.

Geography

The municipality is located in northeastern part of the basin Turčianska kotlina below the Great Fatra, seven kilometers south-west of Martin located.

History

Today's church was built in 1973 ( other details in 1974 ) through the merger of places Dolné Jaseno ( historically also " Malé Jaseno ", Hungarian Kisjeszen ) and Horne Jaseno ( historically also " Veľké Jaseno ", Hungarian Nagyjeszen ) remaining parts of municipalities today.

Historical population of today's municipal area was detected in the district Hradište, with settlements of Púchov culture, from Roman times as well as times of Great Moravia.

The district Dolné Jaseno originated in the 13th century on a piece of land called Jordán and 1374 is mentioned as Parva Jezen while the district Horne Jaseno was founded somewhat later. 1274 is this merely Jezen, since the 14th century to distinguish Nagh called Jezen. 1828 are in Dolné Jaseno 60 houses and 322 inhabitants and in Horne Jaseno records 50 houses and 316 inhabitants.

The history of the two places is connected to the nobility Jesenský that comes from the church today and had branched out over the years. Even today contributes nearly half of the population the last name Jesenský.
