Turík

Turík (Hungarian Turapatak - to 1902 Turik ) is a municipality in Okres Ružomberok within the Žilinský in the north of Slovakia with 226 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011).

Geography

The municipality is located in the western part of the basin Liptovská kotlina, a subunit of Podtatranská kotlina below the mountains Chočské Hills in the mouth of the valley Turícka valley in the basin. The center is located at an altitude of 550 m nm and is ten kilometers away from Ružomberok.

History

Turík was first mentioned in 1278 as Turapataka writing and belonged until 1848 to minor nobility, specifically the Turánszky family. 1828 were counted 37 houses and 368 inhabitants, who were employed in agriculture.

Until 1918, belonged to the lying in the county Liptau place the Kingdom of Hungary and came after Czechoslovakia or Slovakia today. From 1976 to 1990 Turík was part of the community Lisková.

The municipality of the long incorporated settlements Turíček include (Hungarian Kistura ) and Vlčia Jama (Hungarian Farkasverem ); the latter stood on the site of a former restaurant and mill.

Population

According to the 2011 census lived in Turík 226 inhabitants, all of them Slovaks. 178 residents pleaded with the Roman Catholic Church and the Protestant Church of the 17 inhabitants 24 inhabitants were non-denominational and seven inhabitants the denomination is not determined.
