Turnera subulata

The Safranmalvengewächse ( Turneroideae ) are a subfamily in the plant family of the passion flower plants ( Passifloraceae ) within the order of Malpighienartigen ( Malpighiales ). The ten genera with about 205 species thrive in the tropics and subtropics in Africa and the Neotropics.

Description

There are annual or perennial herbaceous plants or woody plants. The plants will smell unpleasant. The change-constant leaves are simple and serrated or deeply divided. It can be present or absent small stipules.

The hermaphroditic, flowers are radial symmetry fünfzählig and sometimes heterostyl. The five sepals are fused. The five petals are fused. Two or three carpels are fused to an above- permanent or semi- inferior ovary.

Are formed capsule fruits. The many seeds have a aril on one side.

Dissemination

Safranmalvengewächse found in the Neotropics and Africa.

System

The genera of the family of the former Turneraceae were incorporated into the family of Passifloraceae by APG III. The name was first published in 1836 by Turneroideae Eaton in Bot Dict., 4th edition, p 44. The family name Turneraceae was published by Carl Sigismund Kunth in Augustin de Candolle Pyrame.
