Tuvalu A-Division

The Tuvalu A- Division or The National Provident Fund Championship League ( NPF ) is the top division of the Football Federation of Tuvalu. The entire competition will be held at Sports Ground Tuvalu, Funafuti. There is no descent mode in the league. In the B Division B teams only play the clubs. The same applies to C- division. Currently, eight of the nine islands of Tuvalu, each with a team are represented. Only the 30 inhabitants Atoll Niulakita is not a team. The championship was first held in 2001. Record holder is the Nauti FC with seven titles.

Game system

The championship runs from January or February to March. During this time, each of the eight teams plays once against each other.

Taganoa Cup

Within the Championship will be played at the Taganoa Cup since 2006. This was a gift from FC Nauti from Auckland, New Zealand. The winning team of each game receives the Cup final and tried to defend him in the next game. If it loses, it will be passed on to the winning team. The team that has the trophy bears at the end of the season the prestigious title of Taganoa Cup winner and has to defend it in the next season.
