Twiggy

Twiggy ( born September 19, 1949 in Neasden, London Borough of Brent, London; actually Lesley Lawson née Hornby ) is a British actress, model and singer, who is now usually occurs as Twiggy Lawson.

Life

It was as Lesley Hornby in Neasden, a suburb of London, was born. Her parents are William Norman Hornby ( a carpenter ) and Helen Hornby ( a seller of the store chain Woolworth ).

At the age of sixteen years Lesley became famous through the influence of her friend and manager Justin de Villeneuve. Soon she was the "face " of the 1960s ( Swinging Sixties ) in London and received its nickname due to its spindly, youthful figure ( Twiggy is called like a thin twig to twig english ). As she grew older, she left Villeneuve and performed as an actress and singer on, such as in Ken Russell's film version of Boyfriend ( Your lover ), 1971. The Part of Polly Brown, who wants to be necessarily a revue star, earned her 1972 two Golden Globe Awards for Best Comedy and a young actress. Since then she has played in a variety of roles on stage and in film, including that of Eliza Doolittle in Pygmalion (1981 ), with Robert Powell in a production for television, and in 1993 in The Nanny as Jocelyn Sheffield # 1 It is also known to her brief appearance in the film Blues Brothers.

Her marriage (1977 - 1983) with the US- American actor Michael Witney ended with his sudden death. From this marriage her daughter comes (* 1978). 1988 Twiggy married Leigh Lawson actor.

Twiggy was the only guest star of a series of Muppet Show, which was replaced in the German version in a segment, by Mary Roos.

In addition, Twiggy was sitting in the fifth to ninth season of America's Next Top Model on the jury of the show and judged the coming models.
