Twin Hills is a census -designated place of Yup'ik - Inuit in Dillingham Census Area, Alaska. The village lies on the Togiak Bay Togiak National Wildlife Refuge. According to the 2000 census, there lived 69 people.

Geography

Twin Hills is located at the mouth of the Twin Hills River, a tributary of the Togiak River.

History

Twin Hills was founded in 1965 by families who moved away because of the recurring flooding of Togiak. The inhabitants have strong cultural ties to the Yukon Kuskokwim region. Their ancestors had moved from there because of the flu epidemic from 1918 to 1919 to Togiak. The school building was built in 1972 burned down in 1976, in 1978 a new school was built. 1977 a post office was opened.

Traffic

Twin Hills is accessible from the air and over the water. In 1974, the Twin Hills Airport on its operation. Cars, quads and snowmobiles are the usual local transport.
