U80701

The U80701 is a replica of the microprocessor type MicroVAX 78032 Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC ), which was developed by reverse engineering. He was the first in the German Democratic Republic (GDR) produced 32 -bit processor and is designed to make the computer then leading line of Digital Equipment Corporation, specifically the MicroVAX II, in the GDR available. Architecture

The CPU was housed in a 68-pin flatpack plastic or ceramic package. The integrated memory management unit ( MMU) could be up to 16 MB of physical as well as up to 4 gigabytes of virtual address memory and support a 512-byte page -oriented protection mechanism and a management of access rights.

Programming was done about 175 machine instructions, 16 32 -bit wide general as well as 20 processor or internal registers. The CPU had a 62.4 -KB ROM with integrated 8-byte prefetch stack. The ROM contains a program to control flow. Address and data bus occupied the same pins, so here, the multiplexing method is used. Furthermore, it was possible to extend the CPU by an additional floating point unit.

The individual components of U80700 - circuit system were developed under the direction of combine microelectronics Erfurt in division of labor cooperation with the combines of Robotron and Carl Zeiss Jena ( Center for Microelectronics Dresden ) and the Central Institute of Cybernetics and Information Processes Berlin Academy of Sciences of the GDR. For example, Robotron Elektronik Dresden was ( Subject E9 and E5) tasked with the development of U80702, U80703 and U80707 to duty stapler contemporary patterns.
