Ujeździec

Ujeździec ( German Geseß ) is a village in the municipality Paczków in Poland. It is located in powiat Nyski in the Opole Voivodeship.

Geography

The village is located about 5 kilometers southeast of Paczków, 233 meters above sea level. Through the village the fox Winkler water flows to the south passes by the Krebsbach, who comes from the nearby Reichensteiner Mountains and flows into the Glatzer Neisse.

History

The place was first mentioned in a document of 1291 as Geseze, 1296 he called in another Vyesezec at Patschkau. In Geseß there is a castle of Jerin family that is mentioned in 1444 as a fixed place in the diocese of Breslau. His basement and the lower masonry probably date from the 13th century.

Ecclesiastically the village belonged to the Catholic parish in Old Patschkau and the Evangelical Church of Patschkau. Shortly before 1416 a parish church ( patronal feast of St. Catherine ) had been built. 1828 burned down the church and was 1834/36 rebuilt. A school probably existed since 1706, the two-story school house was built in 1898. In 1925, 103 children attended the three-class school.

In the village there was a baker in 1937, a construction business, a hairdresser, an inn, a mill, a blacksmith shop, three shoemakers, a carpenter, a general store and an electricity cooperative.
